- Material and thickness. Reinforced deck, mass concrete, granite, asphalt overlay — depth in inches, not "pretty thick."
- Access. Open slab, confined pier, vertical wall, underwater or wet cut, power available on site (gas, hydraulic, electric).
- Cut length and schedule. One opening vs hundreds of feet of joint. Night work vs weekend. Rental window vs purchase.
